Stonehill Farm

An abandoned mansion is only the beginning of Stonehill Farm. Near Maple Bay, its sawmill, stables, greenhouse and woodland waterfall offer distinctly different settings for photography. Having returned for Crescent & Steel, Veil of Shadows, Fallen and private shoots, I’ve come to appreciate how one property can suggest so many different stories.

On a June evening in 2025, a quiet corner of Nanaimo’s Colliery Dam became the setting for Drown, Ophelia. Barb brought the initial concept; I connected it to Shakespeare. Between pale fabric, dark water and a decidedly unromantic lakebed, we made a series that later found its way into Portal Magazine’s 2026 issue.
